Colonial Style Wooden Blinds

Two inch wooden blinds date to the earliest days in Williamsburg and Massachusetts

Suber authentic period wooden blinds, formerly Devenco wooden blinds, are custom built in our shop from the highest quality materials. Each blind is cut by hand, sanded, buffed, and painted or stained with your choice of color. We specialize in authentic historic replication 2” wooden slat blinds that will be passed down for generations.

You will find nothing “off-the-shelf” or made from plastic at Subers Authentic Blinds. Instead, you will find wooden head rails with a traditional double-fluted fascia; steel and brass pinion; worm gear hardware; and walnut wheels and pulleys installed in the head rail for a completely unobstructed action of the lift cord.

Cotton tapes are available in an array of colors to coordinate with virtually any color blind. Reinforced cotton braid cords are used to match the tape color.

If sun is a problem for your valuable antiques and furnishings…If you need privacy but are unwilling to compromise the authenticity of your home with mini-blinds…If the all-or-nothing protection of window shades seems inadequate as well as inappropriate, then Suber authentic wooden blinds are your answer.

As Somfy Silver Plus certified experts, we can motorize blinds, shades with a remote control or smart phone. Motors are hard wired during construction or battery packs can be placed on existing window treatments. Solar charge options are also available.

What you need to know.

Finishes & Tape Colors

Minwax or custom stains are used on our wood blinds. If you prefer your blinds to be painted, provide your custom color. We will be happy to mail you a sample. Colors seen on computer monitors aren’t always accurate. We use 1 1/2” Herringbone pattern cotton blend tape on all of the blinds available in several colors. For our current selection of tape colors, please call 850-508-3991.

Caring for Your Blinds

Like any fine furniture, Suber blinds will require regular dusting. The lambswool duster, commonly known as a Kiwi duster, is ideal for the purpose of dusting slats. A soft cloth or feather duster also works great. Always dust the slats in the tilted position. Never immerse your wooden blinds in water as this may cause them to warp.

Every decade or so, general maintenance and refinishing of your blinds will be required. Sun exposure will affect the blinds as well as the cord and tape. Blinds can be re-finished, re-taped, and recorded by Suber.
